Visits at the IMB programme in December 2010
The CEO of Mercator, Žiga Debeljak, MSc has visited the students of the programa International Full Time Master Programme in Business Administration (IMB) students in December. Mr. Debeljak has also successfully finished the IMB programme and returned to the IMB premises to hold a Managerial Economics lectures. He also provided them many up-to-date examples from the business practise. However, there is no better way to describe this honourable visit but an IMB student testimonial:
"Mr. Debeljak has impressed me with his broad and in-debt knowledge. Many of us were truly exiting to get knowledge and competences that Žiga Debeljak has amazed us with. His visit was also highly inspirational and reinforced our belief that one day we can reach top managerial positions also due to the knowledge and training that we receive at the IMB study programme. His lectures far exceeded my expectations and in my eyes, he truly is a respect-worthy person."
The students were also visited by a professional head-hunter, who has successfully done recruitment for many multinational companies. Let’s keep the guest name as a secret, since head hunters need to enjoy privacy. To offer a student testimonial: "Head hunting as a tool of recruitment is not well known in Slovenian labour market. Maybe it is like that because they head hunters do not want to expose themselves to public and prefer to work in their privacy. I did not know what to expect from her. Already the name head hunter has sort of a bad ring to it. But after the first couple of minutes, we were all became extremely interested and excited about her lecture. I found her very friendly and well-skilled professional and I would definitely not mind getting a call from her one day."
In December, IMB students were also given a task to define a set of HRM competences that bring success. Four well-known Slovenian HRM managers, Ms. Marijana Jazbec (Mercator), Ms. Mirjam Trebše (Pro Plus), Ms. Barbara Lukman Jagodić (IBM) and Mr. Matej Černigoj (Alta Invest) visited the IMB to consult students. Here is a student testimonial:
"In one hour and a half of interviewing them, we managed to summarize the competencies that every successful HR manager ought to have. With the help of our guests we realized how their job looks like, what exactly is what they do, what are the advantages and disadvantages, how to deal with different people, different organizations and also with the ever faster changing environment and how to make people follow top management's vision. It has been another great experience at IMB programme which enabled us an insight into a field of organization and management that we have not seen before."
