On 14 July 2014, as part of the FELU Summer School, an event called Slovene evening took place. This social event was intended for the participants of the FELU Summer School, which under its traditional motto »Take the Best from East and West« brought together students and professors from 37 different countries.
At a relaxed evening gathering, guests were able to taste traditional Slovene food and listen to the sounds of Slovene music. The Slovene singer Katarina Mala performed, and later in the evening the guests started to dance. Guest lecturers and students were very impressed with the organizers’ work and also with Slovene culture.
According to a student from Kazakhstan, who took part in the Corruption and Development programme, the motto of the Summer School is very real because, as he says, »Slovenia knows how to bring together a little bit of East and West«. A student from South Korea who enjoyed Slovenia and decided to stay here on exchange for one year said »People here are extraordinary, it is very interesting to meet other people from Europe.«
A student from Serbia took part in the FELU Summer School on a recommendation from his friends: »I heard that this is one of the best schools in Europe, and this is why I am here. I really like Slovenia, and the Summer School is a perfect mix of difficulty, studying and having fun. I am thrilled!«.
»The Summer School is great. Students come from all over the world, including the United States. They work very well together , they are prepared and interested. I teach the Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurshi programme. . I am here for the first time and I believe that people in Slovenia are very kind and welcoming,« said Professor Andrea Barbero, Universidad Nacional del Sur, Argentina.
»I am very happy with the Summer School. I teach the Corruption and Development programme. The advantage of the Summer School is that students come from a wide range of countries and we have more personal contact with them. This is my first visit to Slovenia and Ljubljana, but I hope to come again,« said Professor Yesim Kustepeli, Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Business, Turkey.
»The Summer School is really fun. I teach the How to do business with China programme. Last year, I participated as a doctoral student here, and this year I came to teach,« said Xufeng Jia, Chinese Overseas M&A and legal consultant for EU-China Investments, Netherlands.
»This is my second time participating in the Summer School. This time I also brought my family with me. I teach the How to do business with China programme. Students are very pleasant, hard-working and kind. Slovenia is a small, but very beautiful and unique country. Programmes here are very different from the ones in China. They are more individual and adapted to the target audience,« said Professor Hongjun Zhao, Shanghai University of International Business & Economics, China.
