On March 5th 2015, the 8th Intercontinental advertising Cup took place in Ljubljana at The Grand Hotel Union. All-day event, organized by Jure Apih, and featured creative minds from 4 different continents. The even was opened by Nataša Kejžar Mohorč from Strategic Consulting IPSOS Ljubljana and Aljoša Bagola, Executive Creative Director, Pristop, Slovenia.

It is all about balance

The first segment of the event entitled “Advertising’s Image and Its Public Perception” was a presentation about the common perception consumers have about advertisers. Aljoša Bagola began the presentation by asking “Why is it people don’t like advertisers?” and then explained that, “People actually do trust advertising, but it is mouth to mouth, from friends or family that is most trusted.” He also emphasised the need for trust and choice when it comes to the relationship between consumers and advertisers. When asked if trust in advertising was helped or hindered by social media, he stated, “One the one hand, it can be bad, but on the other hand, it can be very good. It is all about balance.”

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them

Nataša Kejžar Mohorč then gave a presentation about the dynamics of market advertising jobs and had the main questions, “What is the perception of advertisers?” and then, not only explained, but also gave statistical facts about the comparison of advertisers to other professions, attitudes about advertising, and the attraction of the advertising profession. She also stated that, “The overall perception of work in marketing services is mostly positive.” But she also showed that it is more positive with people who are highly educated, but it is negative with the majority. The presentations finished with an inspiring quote from Albert Einstein, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
