On 13th of April, the annual Delo MeNE išče event was held at the Faculty of Economics (FELU). The event was organized by the FELU’s Career Center in cooperation with the non-profit student organization Management Group. As part of the 13th consecutive event, 20 lectures and workshops were organized with the aim of informing students about various employment opportunities and increasing their employment prospects by outlining various skills they might need.
As part of the event, the global organization AIESEC held a presentation about the experience of working abroad.
“We are the results of people around us”
A 26 year old Alexandru Cucrec introduced the audience to two programs that AIESEC offers to volunteers or workers abroad. Moreover, he revealed his impressive career path – he has worked in five different countries since graduating in Finance and Banking.
AIESEC: Bridge between student needs and the organization’s needs
AIESEC is focused on creating and empowering young people to become both strong individuals and worthy leaders. It offers various cross-cultural exchange programs where students enjoy new experiences and get out of their comfort zone, thus achieving self-awareness and becoming world citizens.
“Fifty thousand people join AIESEC’s networks every year”
Alexandru presented two AIESEC programs: Global citizen and Global talent. Global citizen is a volunteering program where students travel abroad for periods between 6 and 8 weeks. Their activities range from helping in literacy improvement to working with local communities and improving sanitation. Students can work in a diverse range of fields, but they are all focused towards helping others and challenging yourself.
As for the Global talent program, students can apply to various and choose the company by themselves. Over a period of 2 to 18 weeks, they gain practical work experience. In both of these programs, AIESEC offers their support during the project in matters such as accommodation search and preparation for seminars.
All participants have common a wish for self-improvement, adventure and new challenges which will help them achieve their goals and gain experience outside of their university education. In conclusion, Alexandru asked 3 questions in order to help the audience start the journey: “What do you want to experience? What do you want to learn and how do you want to contribute?”
