Freshmen, welcome to the Faculty of Economics!

On Monday 1 October 2018, the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana welcomed almost 1000 promising and ambitious young people who have decided to dedicate their studies to either business or economic areas in the only school in the region to proudly boast three international accreditations of excellence, namely EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA, ranking it among the top 0.5% of business and economics schools in the world.

Students in both study programmes were first invited to a reception in the Large Hall, which started with an introductory welcome speech delivered by the Dean of the FELU, Prof. Dr Metka Tekavčič. The freshmen have thus become part of a large family which is and will always be there for them with help and advice. At the end of the group reception, the newcomers were divided into small groups and went off to various lecture rooms where they were presented with work and life at the FELU.

By enrolling at the FELU, the students have joined a community that is distinguished by important social values. Thirst for knowledge, creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, integrity, respect and inclusive cooperation are the most important that we aspire to as a faculty, while we strive to create an environment in which we can talk about values, respect them and also point to them.

We wish all first-year students a study year full of success and opportunities while encouraging them to be proactive and foster cooperation. They should keep in mind the thought of Assist. Prof. Dr Jaka Cepec who said in his speech that being a student is a responsibility. Therefore, be thirsty for knowledge, nurture your entrepreneurial spirit and maintain integrity and respect because this is the only way to help ensure the bright future of our Faculty. Wishing you all the best!
