Academy Sustainability 2012: “Making business more efficient”

“To develop a strong network among participants which will help them push forward sustainability in Slovene businesses and society.”
The faculty of Economics in Ljubljana, has this year again organised the event Academy Sustainability, which has through six modules provided to all the participants to get the newest information and approaches about the meaning and importance of sustainability in business nowadays.
What is the highlight of this year’s academy? Mateja Veselica, project manager of the event said:”This year program has two add-ons from the last year, content wise the greater emphasis is given to eco-system perspective and development of community of companies that committed themselves to sustainability.” Added, “In particular, through morning breakfasts, evening project work and collaborative best practice sharing the aim of academy is to develop a strong network among participants which will help them push forward sustainability in Slovene businesses and society.”
Third module – Sustainability marketing: A new paradigm of marketing took place
“Nowadays, we are returning back to tradition and authenticity.”
Module started with the breakfast provided by Lena Klinar, who manages the sustainable directed restaurant Gora pod Lipo, located in Pohorje. She added: “Nowadays, we are returning back to tradition and authenticity. We are trying to emphasise the quality and specialities of our environment at our restaurant and in whole ambient.”

The guest and lecturer of the third module in the frame of the Academy Sustainability was prof. dr. Frank Martin Belz from Tächnische Universtität in München, who presented sustainability marketing and emphasised all its benefits for companies, customers and whole business. “I think sustainability marketing benefit to company and the customers. Because the future markets are all about sustainability, including electric cars, including energy efficient houses or renewable energies, also organic food products and so on.” he said, and added: “I think the University of Ljubljana, especially this faculty of Economics it’s very modern, well known and recognized all over the Europe. I think it’s one of the leading Eastern European schools of management and I’m really astonished how fast this faculty was able to get this kind of reputation and how international this faculty has become.”
Academy Sustainability is the event created and sponsored by BMW group; marketing manager Barbara Uranjek, emphasized the meaning of sustainability: “Sustainability is a big part of the marketing at BMW group and it also transfers to our local office here in Slovenia. BMW group has already started to implement this in 2007 on a group level by starting to think about sustainability in all its company in the whole chain from product to the end customer. What we do locally here is to looking for projects which are connected with sustainability, one of this is Sustainability Academy which we actually found it together with the Faculty of Economics.”
To conclude with Maja Ilec, PR communicator at Simobil, who shown her excitement about the module by saying: “. I’m very excited about today’s lectures and I hope to get many new ideas and information about sustainability and how to do it and implement it as effectively as possible.”
