»Hackers on the way, ethics under question! Did you take care of your safety? «

The Alumni Club of the Faculty of Economics (Business Informatics Section) and the PIPL Club organized a round table entitled »Hackers on the way, ethics under question! Did you take care of your safety? « on 24 May in on the business premises of the IBM Innovation Center Ljubljana.
The Alumni Section for Business Informatics was also established on this occasion, which was introduced by Jurij Jaklič, the professor at the Faculty of Economics. The section consists of the management and administration board. Business informatics is very important and necessary these days. What is also important is the exchange of ideas, which manufactured the idea of creating a section, through which they will transfer theoretical and practical knowledge to members of Alumni Club.

With this IBM thought, event was opened by the host Bernard Grum (IBM). In IBM they put a lot of importance on ethics, as they believe ethics is good business and they transfer that to business partners. They do not have tolerance for non-ethical behavior.
»IBM’s reputation depends on IBM’ers! «
Ethical values are available also in a written form, so that they can rate their employees based on them. IBM is doing business only in countries, where economy allows and cheers ethical behavior.
After the introduction speech given by Mr. Grum, which was based on ethics and security, a round table took place. Main topics of the discussion were: who is an ethical hacker, where are those necessary and what king of knowledge is necessary.
Mr. Marko Vahen: »Big demand for ethical hackers is present in the financial area.«
In particular, there was a lot of talk about how to prevent misuse of data. Often a dilemma arises whom we can trust with managing with our personal data.
»Abuses that occur in conjunction with someone within the institution« said Mr.Milan Grabor.
Do we even protect our data enough? Mr. Vahen: »Secretaries have passwords written on the computer, some even have only one password to access all documents.«
At the end, Professor Aleš Popovič asked everybody about their thoughts on ethics and security in future. Mr. Jeršin said: »The emphasis on the security of mobile devices will be needed.«
»The emphasis on passwords, companies have to invest in the rules and measures based on ethics. «, said Marko Vahen.
Mr. Grabor prefers technology that protects data, but it needs to be properly installed and configured. While Mr. Andrej Tomšič thinks that we need to thoroughly study human rights, with purpose to understand and properly protect them.
