The 22nd IMB generation has just returned from their end of the year excursion. On this trip, they had the chance to see two countries – Poland and Belarus, or more precisely three cities – Krakow, Minsk and Warsaw.

They had a chance to visit both historical and academic locations for their trip. In Krakow they had the opportunity to visit the world-famous Wieliczka Salt mines, a UNESCO Heritage site. And the University Krakow, where they had a lecture on the domestic Poland economy.

In both countries the students and their mentors were always warmly welcomed. In Krakow and Minsk the students got a chance to visit two domestic companies. In Poland this company was “Nowy Styl Group”, an innovative office furniture company where first-hand about the challenges and opportunities companies in East Europe face. In Belarus they visited the “Minsk Tractor Works” company, which is with its 20 000 employees one of the biggest companies operating to date. During the company visit, the national TV media came and some of students were interviewed (you can find the article on the website: http://www.belta.by/society/view/krasota-i-porjadok-v-belarusi-prijatno-udivili-studentov-iz-slovenii-163954-2015/).

In Belarus, the Riko company hosted an spectacular dinner and city tour, but they also visited the Belarusian State University where they got the chance to know the local and international students. The students were also invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where they got a chance to meet the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Ms Alena KUPCHYNA, where they got a lot of insights about the current political and economic situation. They learned that Belarus is moving with full force into the international business landscape.

During the stay in Minsk the last destination students visited was the Belarus development bank where they were given a lecture on the measures taken for accelerating Belarus’ development. And at the BSU Technical Business School, they also got the chance to understand firsthand what are the hopes and dreams for the economy of Belarus from the faculty, students and people working in the sector.

Everything was also complemented by having the chance of exploring the cities which gave a deeper understanding of the overall picture. With trips like this not only students have a chance to explore unknown territory but they also get the chance enrichment their further understating about the International Business competencies. This will be proven of great value for their future careers and also to give a better and richer analysis and the right recommendations for the Slovenians companies they are collaborating with for the book and the PKP conference.
