SEB LU Student Among the Recipients of the Rector’s Award for the Best Innovation of the University of Ljubljana 2021
On Thursday, 11 November 2021, the awards ceremony of the Rector’s Award for the Best Innovation of the University of Ljubljana 2021 took place online. The award for the best innovation in the students and alumni category was given to the project entitled ‘Buffer for PCR Testing for SARS-CoV-2 on Saliva Samples’. Katarina Pivko, a student of the 27th generation of the IMB Programme at the School of Economics and Business, was also among the members of the winning project group.
This year’s award-winning project in the students and alumni category is Buffer for PCR Testing for SARS-CoV-2 on Saliva Samples. The members of the entrepreneurial team were Eva Rajh, MSc (Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, National Institute of Chemistry), Katarina Pivko (School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana), Mojca Benčina, PhD (National Institute of Chemistry), Maruša Bizjak, PhD (Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana).
Katarina Pivko shared her opinion about participation in the project group: “Participating in an interdisciplinary group is great. Since everyone has specific knowledge in a particular field, solutions are found faster and are more effective. You can learn a lot, make many new acquaintances, and carry out successful and promising projects faster.”
The traditional Rector’s Award for the Best Innovation of the University of Ljubljana competition is held in cooperation with the Ljubljana University Incubator and encourages bringing technological and non-technological innovations and innovative entrepreneurial ideas to the market.
