Back in August, the 30th Generation embarked on a remarkable journey, diving headfirst into the Portorož Business Conference Project alongside their dedicated mentors. Last week they wrapped it all up! As a cherry on top, the team has embarked on a captivating study trip to the Czech Republic, where they’ve been immersing themselves in a world of entrepreneurship, innovation, and tradition. Here’s a glimpse into their incredible experiences:
Tomas Bata’s Legacy: Their journey began with an exploration of the fascinating story of Tomas Bata in Zlin. At the Faculty of Management and Economics in Zlín, they received a warm welcome from Bedrich Zimola. The highlight of the day was a captivating lecture by Pavel Velev, former CEO of Bata Foundation, who delved into the intriguing world of Entrepreneurial Legacy by Tomas Bata. His mantra of “people over profit” and the timeless wisdom of personal responsibility continue to inspire us even a century later.
Czech Industries: The students also had the privilege of visiting the production facilities at Škoda Auto in Mlada Boleslav. Witnessing the high level of automation and robotization coupled with skilled craftsmanship, it’s no wonder they are the 2nd most profitable subsidiary in the VW group.
Slovenian Companies: A visit to the Slovene Embassy in Prague provided valuable insights into doing business in Czechia. The ambassador Tanja Strniša and her team engaged in a discussion with inspiring individuals from ambitious Slovenian firms, like Nataša Vacek Novak, Regional Director of Trimo in Prague, Jan Gala, Director of Krka ČR, s.r.o. and Michal Kura from the Slovenia Centre Prague. The exchange of ideas was truly enlightening.
Craftsmanship at Rückl Glassworks: The students had a chance to step into the world of craftsmanship and tradition at Rückl Glassworks. Witnessing the meticulous process of glass production, from glassblowing to quality control, left a profound impression. A heartfelt thanks Mr Andrej Kokovnik, Sales Manager, with more than 30 years of experience in glasswork industry and to the Rückl Glassworks team for sharing their dedication to excellence.
Plzeňský Prazdroj: A visit to Plzeňský Prazdroj was nothing short of unforgettable! Plant manager Petr Kofron and Craft & Heritage director Rudolf Šlehofer took us on an enlightening journey into the heart of brewing excellence. Their commitment to preserving tradition and delivering the highest quality standards was truly impressive. Plzeňský Prazdroj’s iconic brands are more than just beverages; they are a part of Czech beer culture and heritage and they are investing heavily in equipment, digitalisation and automation to succeed in the market. We are thankful to Ivana Jírová and Dragos Constantinescu, for making the visit possible. We also had the privilege of exploring the inner workings of the Pilsner Urquell Brewery through a guided tour was the perfect finale to our journey.
A big thank you to all our friends in the Czech Republic who made this trip unique and enriching.
