Valentin Jesenko, founder of Dever, a leading company in immersive technology solutions shared how back in 2015 the idea for Dever was born from the belief that smartphones had reached their peak potential. Dever collaborates with major players like Apple, Google, Lidl, and international airports, creating augmented and virtual reality solutions that lower costs and enhance training by simulating complex work scenarios.
In the Human Resource Management Course, we put on the headsets to immerse ourselves in virtual scenarios, and experience first-hand how these technologies can enhance learning and interaction. We experienced the future of immersive technology in real-time and realised its revolutionary potential. Jesenko also spoke about a fundamental challenge for immersive technology: an even more powerful network infrastructure. Although 5G is a step forward, it is not yet enough to support AR and VR applications on a large scale.
More than a technical lesson, Jesenko’s talk was an invitation to reflect on our relationship with technology. The futuristic world we imagined as children now seems closer than ever. However, we must realise that we can no longer postpone this change: it’s time to carefully weigh the benefits and risks of this transition. As captivating as simulations can be, Jesenko reminded us that nothing will ever fully replace real-life experience. Technology provides extraordinary convenience, but we are human: we crave tangible experiences, like a good meal or a live concert.
